Tour operator and guides licensed by the Belize Tourism Board.Your Mayan Rainforest Cave Tubing Adventure begins at the Belize Tourism Village. This is where all cruise ship tenders dock. A few steps from your tender, you will meet our team at the Wet Lizard Restaurant/Bar. From there, a passenger van will transport you into the interior. After a scenic tour through colonial Belize City, you will continue inland along the Western Highway, passing through quaint Creole settlements and onto the hallowed grounds of the Caves Branch River Archaeological Reserve. Upon arriving at Caves Branch River Archaeological Reserve, your guides will outfit you with your cave tubing equipment, including an adjustable headlamp, life jacket, and inner tube. After your safety briefing, you will embark on a nature walk through lush, tropical rainforest and caves once inhabited by the ancient Mayans. Often celebrated for their discoveries in math and science, the Mayans believed the caves were a supernatural realm where their ancestors resided, as well as the deities of nature, such as rain, thunder and lightning. Along the way, your tour guide will point out native species of plant and animal life.At the end of your nature trail, you will enter into the Caves Branch River to embark on an adventure like no other. Your tubing ride will take you through waters that range from placid to quick-moving rapids. Most tours will pass through two cave systems, featuring enormous chambers with cathedral-sized rooms. Watch in amazement as your headlamp shines on bizarre limestone shapes, stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and, ultimately, into the darkness beyond. Listen to water dripping from spectacular ceiling formations or to your own voice bounce off distance walls. After your wet and wild adventure, those who have selected the lunch option will be treated to a home-cooked lunch at a local restaurant. The menu typically includes Belizean stewed chicken, rice & beans, slaw, and banana bread. A soft drink is included, and there is a full service bar available for adult beverage purchases. After lunch, you are invited to explore the grounds around the restaurant for some unique photo opportunities. Enjoy the sight of lush green fields, towering royal palms, coconut palms, and the guanacaste, which the ancient Maya held as sacred. You'll soak in more memories on your way back to the Tourism Village. As with all Coral Breeze excursions, throughout your tour your guides will be eager to enrich you with knowledge about Belize, its diverse peoples, history, and culture. Our prices are well below the cost of comparable tours sold through the cruise ships and include all expenses (park fee, taxes, equipment, guide). Children must be at least 8 years old to participate.
